What is Rahu Kaal?

Definition of Rahu Kaal

Rahu Kaal (also spelled Rahu Kalam) is an inauspicious period of approximately 90 minutes each day, ruled by the shadow planet Rahu. The time between sunrise and sunset is divided into 8 equal parts, and one part is designated as Rahu Kaal based on the weekday.

No new auspicious activity should be initiated during Rahu Kaal. In Gujarat, events like weddings, griha pravesh, and new business launches are especially avoided during this period.

Sequence: Sun=8th, Mon=2nd, Tue=7th, Wed=5th, Thu=6th, Fri=4th, Sat=3rd part.

Exact times vary by city because sunrise/sunset times differ. ShubhPanchang calculates precise Rahu Kaal for your city.
