Today's Panchang Summary
General information only — not personal advice.

It's Trayodashi of Krishna Paksha, in the month of Jyeshtha. Today falls on a Shukravara, traditionally ruled by Venus, with the Moon resting in Ashwini nakshatra. Trayodashi is considered an auspicious tithi, so it's a good day for new beginnings, ceremonies, or important decisions. Between 10:57 AM and 12:36 PM, Rahu Kaal will be in effect; elders advise against starting anything new during this window. The most auspicious moment of the day is Abhijit Muhurta, from 12:10 PM to 1:03 PM — a good slot for anything important. Vrat: પ્રદોષ is observed today, an important fasting day in the Gujarati tradition.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

In a Gujarati home, the day often begins with someone glancing at the Panchang — the traditional Hindu almanac our families have been consulting for thousands of years. The name comes from two Sanskrit words meaning "five limbs," and that's exactly what a Panchang gives you: five pieces of information about the day. There's Tithi (the lunar day), Nakshatra (which star group the Moon is in), Yoga, Karana, and Vara (the weekday). Together they tell you whether the moment is well-suited for a wedding, a new business venture, a journey — or simply a quiet day at home.

Rahu Kaal is a window of roughly 90 minutes each day that elders advise against starting anything important — a new venture, signing a contract, beginning a long journey. The exact time changes daily because it's calculated from sunrise and sunset, and each weekday gets a different slot in the day. You don't need to memorize the math; the time for your city is already shown on the homepage. The simple rule passed down through generations: if something can wait an hour, let it wait until Rahu Kaal is over. Today's Rahu Kaal for Ahmedabad: 10:57 AM – 12:36 PM.

Ekadashi — known as Agiyaras in our community — falls on the 11th day of each lunar fortnight, so it comes around twice a month. It's a fasting day dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Many Gujarati households skip rice, wheat, and most grains that day, eating fruit, dairy, potatoes, and other fasting-friendly foods instead. There are 24 Ekadashis through the year, each with its own name and story. The one most families take seriously is Nirjala Ekadashi — also called Bhim Agiyaras — in June. It's a fast without even drinking water, and tradition says observing just this one carries the merit of all 24 combined.

A Tithi isn't tied to the clock — it depends on where the Sun and Moon sit in the sky relative to each other. Each Tithi covers exactly 12 degrees of separation between them, which takes somewhere between 19 and 26 hours to complete. That's why a Tithi often spans two calendar dates. Occasionally you'll see the same Tithi listed for two days in a row (called vriddhi), or one that seems to skip entirely (called kshaya). It isn't a mistake — that's simply how the lunar reckoning works.

We use the Drik Ganita method with Lahiri Ayanamsa — the same standard India's National Calendar uses, and what most reputable modern Panchangs rely on today. Every night an automated check runs in the background: it picks 10 Gujarat cities and compares our Tithi, Nakshatra, and sunrise times against other trusted sources. If anything doesn't line up, an alert goes out immediately so we can fix it before morning. Sunrise and sunset times are accurate to within about 2 minutes for any listed city. The small green "Validated" badge you see on each page means that day's data passed last night's check.

Choghadiya is a simple, practical way to break the day into 8 windows of roughly 90 minutes each, from sunrise to sunset — and another 8 windows through the night. Each window carries a quality. Amrit and Shubh are the ones you want for fresh starts: a new shop, the first day of school, a job interview. Labh is favored for anything money-related, and Char works nicely for travel. Udveg, Kaal, and Rog are best avoided for important work, though daily routines are fine. You'll find today's live Choghadiya on the homepage — the window happening right now is highlighted in green so it's easy to spot.

PANCHANG FOR GUJARAT CITIES

ShubhPanchang provides accurate daily Panchang for 100+ Gujarat cities. Click any city for today's Tithi, Rahu Kaal, and Choghadiya calculated specifically for your location.

Gujarati Panchang follows the Amanta tradition — months end on Amavasya (new moon) and the year begins on Bestu Varas, the day after Diwali. This differs from the Purnimanta calendar followed in North India. ShubhPanchang.in is built specifically for the Gujarati community, using Gujarati Samvat dating, Lahiri Ayanamsa calculations, and the Amanta month system. Our data is validated daily to ensure accuracy for all 100+ Gujarat cities including the diaspora communities in UK, USA, and East Africa.
