About ShubhPanchang

ShubhPanchang is a free, accurate Gujarati Hindu Panchang platform. Our goal: give every Gujarati family — in India and the diaspora — instant access to reliable Panchang data with no ads blocking the information, no slow loading, and no confusing layouts.

How We Calculate Panchang

🔭
Drik Ganita Method
We use observational (empirical) astronomy — the same method used by drikpanchang.com and most modern Panchang publishers. This is more accurate than the older Surya Siddhanta method.
📐
Lahiri Ayanamsa
We apply the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa to convert tropical to sidereal positions. This is the standard for Vedic astrology and matches drikpanchang.com exactly.
🌍
Location-based Calculation
Sunrise, sunset, Rahu Kaal, and Choghadiya are calculated for each city's exact latitude and longitude. A Panchang for Ahmedabad will differ slightly from Surat — and we compute both correctly.
Amanta Tradition
We follow the Amanta calendar tradition (month ends on Amavasya), which is the Gujarati standard. North Indian Purnimanta tradition (month ends on Purnima) is different — we do not mix the two.

✓ Daily Validation

Every night, our automated system compares our Panchang output against external sources for 5 Gujarat cities. If any Tithi or Nakshatra mismatch is found, an alert is triggered and we investigate before the next day's data is published.

What We Don't Do

  • We do not provide personal astrology advice or predictions
  • We do not claim any spiritual authority — we display data only
  • We do not sell or share your location data
  • We do not show intrusive ads, pop-ups, or modals
  • We do not require registration or email sign-up

Technology

ShubhPanchang is built on Cloudflare's global edge network, meaning your Panchang loads in under 100ms from anywhere in the world — including Ahmedabad, Leicester, and Nairobi.

Calculations use the astronomia open-source astronomy library with our custom Gujarati calendar layer (Amanta tradition, Vikram Samvat era). All source code follows standard astronomical algorithms published in Jean Meeus' Astronomical Algorithms.
